TAMCHI – Excursions to Kol-Kogur lake

Imagine setting off early morning to a place where tourists usually do not go, where nature is still wild and moutain lanscapes are breathtaking. Enthousiasts and friendly guides, born and raised here in Tamchi, between the Yssy-Kol lake lake and the beautiful moutains offer to take you to their countryside, by car or on the back of one of their friendly horses for an unforgetable trip. THE EXTENDED GREAT KOL-KOGUR HIKE or RIDE ( 3 days)

This bespoke tour to the Kol-Kogur lake offers to a limited number of adventure seeking tourists ever-lasting memories of wild nature and beautiful panorama. The ride will be quite intense up to 8 hours per day.

Day 1: Tamchy – Kaiky

• 9.00 – After a good breakfast, meet your guide and horse directly at the door of your CBT Guest House in Tamchi and head to the moutains through the Eky-Chat (Эки чат) valley and start the ascension to the first beautiful panorama, Sargo (Cаргоо), on the Yssy-Kol lake on one side and the snowy moutains on the other.
• 12.00 – Have traditional Kirghiz lunch at a local sheperd home in Kaiki (Kaйкы).
• 13.00 – 17.00 – Head to the Koulja Jaylo (кулжа жайлоо) fantastic panorama and continue the route through the wild nature and admire endless green hills, high snowy peaks of Kabirga (Kабырга), moutain lakes, local houses and cattle grazing in the sun.
• 19.30 – Enjoy a traditional dinner cooked on the open fire. Night in tent. In case of rain, a mountain shelter is there to back you up.

Day 2: Kaiky – Kol-Kogur Lake

• 08.30 – Breakfast
• 09.00 – Get on your horse and enjoy the beautiful ride until the Atchik Tach (ачык таш) pass at 3342 meters and the first view of the Kol-Kogur lake. Have a nice ride down the valley until the Kol-Tor lake, a landscape of wild flowers and pine forests.
• 13.30 – Have a nice lunch cooked on the open fire.
• 14.30 – 18.00 – Have a relaxing time on the lake shore, hiking around the place on foot, taking photos, chilling in the sun, fishing or even swimming if you dare to.
• 19.30 – Enjoy a traditional dinner cooked on the open fire. We might eat the fish you caught. Night in tent. In case of rain, a mountain shelter is there to back you up.

Day 3: Kol-Kogur Lake – Tamchy

• 08.30 – Breakfast
• 09.30 – Back on the horse for the return trip. You’ll have again a very nice ride from rocky path to large and amazing panoramas on the lake all along the road. Plenty of photos to take, of new valley to discover, eventually stopping over houses to exchange a couple of words and a cup of tea. Picnic will be provided along the way.
• 16.30 – Back to your Tamchy CBT Guest House.
