From Issyk-Kul Lake to Kol-Tor Lake

Imagine setting off early morning to a place where tourists usually do not go, where nature is still wild and mountain lanscapes are breathtaking. 1) THE GREAT Kol-Tor RIDE ( 2 days)

This bespoke tour to the Kol-Tor lake offers everlasting memories of wild nature and beautiful panorama to a limited number of adventure seeking tourists. The ride will be quite intense up to 6 hours per day.

Day 1: Tamchy – Kol-Tor Lake

8.00 – After a good breakfast, the car picks you up directly at your guest house and heads to the mountains.

9.00 – Meet your guide(s) and your horse (if horse riding option) in the Eky-Chat (Эки чат) valley and start the ascension to the first beautiful panorama , Sargo (Cаргоо), the Issyk-Kul lake on one side and the snowy moutains on the other.

12.00 – Have traditional Kyrgyz lunch at a local sheperd home in Kaiki (Kaйкы).

13.00 – 19.00 – Head to the Koulja Jaylo (кулжа жайлоо) fantastic panorama and continue the route through the wild nature and admire endless green hills, high snowy peaks of Kabirga (Kабырга), mountain lakes, local houses  and cattle grazing in the sun, until the Atchik Tach (ачык таш) pass at 3342 meters. The car will meet you in some accessible locations to have little snacks along the way.

20.00 – Set up your tent and enjoy a traditional dinner cooked on the open fire. Night in tent. In case of rain, a mountain shelter is there to back you up.

Practical information:

Participants: Minimum age – 16. A good physical condition as well as previous horse riding experience is required.

Period: June-August

What you need to bring: Your luggage will be carried by the car to and from the mountain by car. You’ll be able to access it at each meeting point with the car as well as at campsite. As the tour takes you deep in the mountains, good outdoor equipment is a must as weather might change very fast (rain jacket, warm jacket, gloves, hat, fleece jacket). Wear comfortable trousers for horse riding and have good hinking shoes. Please also bring a headtorch, a tent, warm sleeping bag and matress for the evening. A knife is always good to have as well as a swimming suit if you intend to swim. A light waterproof bag might be usefull for things you’d like to take with you on the horse, just in case.
